It's completely disgusting to see the timestamps downright objectify women. The user has shared a list of eight scenes from the film, and all these time stamps come along with the names of the female actors. Excuse me, but sex isn’t a solo act in any of these scenes. There is a male actor involved, but apparently the user has turned a blind eye to it because, obviously, who objectifies men?
It’s one of the cheapest things I’ve seen on the internet in recent times, so how can I just scroll across without calling him out after seeing something as nauseating as this?
While the user has highlighted Tammannah Bhatia’s scenes with Vijay Varma from Sex With Ex, he has refrained from mentioning scenes from Konkana Sen Sharma’s Mirror, starring Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subash, because that’s less "erotic" and more about two women expressing their sexual kinks towards voyeurism and exhibitionism. It's a given that this user is a misogynist, so no wonder he couldn’t bear seeing women having sexual desires, let alone expressing their kinks and fetishes.
After all, patriarchy expects women to "fulfil their husband’s sexual needs" and have sex to "conceive children." Sex is never about pleasure for women in patriarchal societies; it's "responsibility."
Something that literally made my stomach churn further was the mention of a scene featuring marital rape. Considering that marital rape is not yet criminalised in our country, it’s disgusting but not surprising that men enjoy erotica videos, whether it’s consensual sex or rape. All these men need is an erotica video that can turn them on; it doesn’t matter if the woman in it has consented to sex because they only see women as objects for sexual gratification.
But how sickening is the fact that a post like this gets uploaded on a widely used social media platform, people comment on it, and it’s completely normalised? This is one of the many proofs that display the amount of perverseness in society. If some men could exhibit this much detestable behaviour on a public platform, imagine how repugnant their thoughts would be. The horrific thing is that these men are living amongst us, and we have no clue which one of them has a vile thought running through their brain, and that is spine-chilling.
This is why we need to inculcate sex education in men right from childhood. Boys need to stop growing up into men who perceive women as objects of sex and start treating them as their equal counterparts. Boys need to be taught the importance of consent so that they don’t satisfy themselves by seeing rape scenes. That's not just sickening, but highly problematic!
It makes me wonder if men who get excited watching rape scenes wouldn’t mind forcing themselves on women at some point in their lives. Marital rape needs to be criminalised, but men need to be raised with a basic amount of morality in them. Society needs to stop normalising the concept of "men will be men," "the boys," etc., and call out creepy behaviour! How long are people going to be okay with sex-deprived maniacs roaming around society? It’s about time we start normalising conversation about relationships, sex, and consent to prevent men from turning into degenerates.
