The police arrested Saina, the woman for allegedly murdering her 1-month old daughter,  by dumping her in a temporary toilet. The incident took place on Friday at Kler village of Faridkot district. The accused came from Ajith Para in the Banda district of Bihar. The police said that she had two daughters and a son. So she was upset at the birth of another girl in the family.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said that Saina had been booked and arrested for murder on the complaint of her husband Raju. He continued saying that she had delivered the baby last month in a brick kiln but she wanted a son. "She already has two daughters and a 2-year-old son," he said. The DSP added, "The family had been working at the same brick kiln for five years and came to Punjab every year for this."

Woman arrested for murdering daughter: the incident

Saina's husband Raju revealed to the police that his wife was upset at the birth of a third child and refused to take care of her. Around 4 a.m. on Friday, she took the baby girl to a temporary toilet and dumped her in a pit, alive. The police further said that she did not admit knowing anything about her daughter in the first place but later confessed her crime. "When he enquired, she claimed she did not know, only to later confess her crime," said the DSP. When the child was pulled out of the pit, she was found to be dead.

A case has been registered at Faridkot Sadar police station under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of IPC.
