Who was Pankhuri Shrivastava: Entrepreneur and founder of Pankhuri, a social community platform for women, Pankhuri Shrivastava passed away last week following a cardiac arrest. She was 32. Her company gave confirmation on reports of her untimely demise on Monday.

"With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform the sad demise of our beloved CEO, Pankhuri Shrivastava. We lost her on 24th December 2021 due to a sudden cardiac arrest. May her soul obtain Sadgati. Om Shanti," the statement from Pankhuri read.

News of Shrivastava's death has come as a shock to social media, where she was active among her community of thousand-plus followers. She described herself as a "storyteller, traveller, artist" on Twitter. Her last tweet was posted just a day before her tragic death; in it, she mentioned the difficulty nowadays of evaluating a candidate's potential in a one-hour interview.

Netizens are left mourning Shrivastava's passing, with condolence notes coming in from multiple prominent personalities too. Vani Kola, venture capitalist and Kalaari Capital founder, in a note spoke about Shrivastava being a "vivacious bright woman full of ideas and full of life... Hailing from Jhansi, she felt that the spirit of Jhansi Ki Rani was in her blood. She was incredibly satisfied that she opened an office in Jhansi & gave opportunities to girls to work in jobs that gave them a strong identity."

Businessman Rajan Anandan, ex-Vice President of Google India and present Managing Director of Sequoia Capital that backed Pankhuri, tweeted, "Pankhuri was so full of life, ideas and passion and had a missionary zeal. We loved having Pankhuri in our Surge family and will miss you so dearly."

Shrivastava launched her venture in 2019; it offers a place for women to interact, take courses, engage in clubs, upskill and network. It projects itself as a "women exclusive online platform." Shrivastava was also one of the co-founders of Grabhouse, a no brokerage rentals platform that was acquired by Qukir in 2016.

Many online have expressed alarm at the string of young deaths in 2021 owing to heart issues. Actors Siddharth Shukla and Shreya Muralidhar, 40 and 27 respectively, both passed away this year following cardiac arrests.
