Who is Reena Goel: Uttarakhand Police on Monday arrested Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha state secretary Reena Goel, her two sons and another aide outside Clement Town Police Station, Dehradun. Goel is accused of illegally “acquiring property of an elderly couple”. She is in custody for wrongfully seizing the property worth crores in the city following the couple’s demise, using fraudulent means. The deceased’s family lives in the United States.

The complaint against Reena Goel and her sons was lodged by Suresh Mahajan, deceased’s relative. Special Sub Inspector (SSI) of police GS Negi of Clement Town Police told the reporters that the deceased couple’s relative complained that since he lives abroad, the BJP leader “took advantage of the situation” and “broke open locks of the closed property with the help of her family members”. Negi added that the property was locked after the elderly couple had died. While their only son died a few years back, the police were informed about the alleged crime by the elderly couple’s relative via e-mail. Following which the police arrested Goel and her sons Labya Goyal and Shrishabh Goyal and Anuj Saini after investigation.

The police arrested the accused mother-sons late on Saturday night and produced them before the duty magistrate on Sunday. They have been released on bail, according to jagran.com. The BJP Mahila Morcha state secretary Goel was booked after the deceased’s relative Suresh Mahajan lodged a complaint of illegal intrusion inside the property.

The report further stated that Goel had put a board of charitable trust outside the property in the name of the deceased couple with the intention of taking possession of the property. She has further been expelled from the party.

Reena Goel is the Mahila Morcha state secretary for the Uttarakhand wing of BJP. According to her LinkedIN profile, she is the owner of The Phoenix club in Dehradun.
