Elderly Woman Gets Beaten In Viral Video: All You Need To Know About The Case

After a horrific video went viral of an old woman beaten by her husband with a bucket, massive outrage has been struck on the internet. The woman reportedly denied registering a case against her husband, so the police had to register a suo motu case under the domestic violence charges.

Domestic Violence case: Old woman beaten by husband

• The man is reportedly identified as Gajanan Buwa Chikankar who is seen in the disturbing video brutally assaulting his wife, a senior citizen. The man is seen using a bucket to assault her and is also verbally abusing the survivor.
• The woman was reportedly beaten over the issue of water as she removed the water pipe from the drum.
• In the video, the man is seen thrashing the old woman repeatedly with a bucket as she pleads to the man in pain. He is also seen kicking the chair she is sitting on and then dragging her in the video. The man also slaps and verbally abuses the old woman as seen in the video.
• The domestic violence video is reportedly taken by their grandson who is a 13-year-old. He also shared it on Whatsapp and made it go viral according to reports.
• The old woman had reportedly refused to file a complaint against her husband under the domestic violence case. She prompted the police to file one under sections 323, 324, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, all relating to harm caused to another person, according to reports.
• The police have registered a suo motu case against Chikankar on the basis of the videographic evidence and are trying to locate the man who is reported to be absconding.
• After the video went viral, Shiv Sena reportedly visited the old woman's house and assessed the situation.
• The police are now trying to get the statement of the 13-year-old grandson of the domestic violence survivor for further investigation.
