Cop rapes newly married woman: A newly married woman alleged that a cop previously posted at Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh had raped her several times and threatened to kill her father and brother. The survivor had gone to the accused in order to file a complaint about a marital dispute. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Etawah Jai Kumar Singh confirmed these incidents and said that the primary investigation found the women's statement to be true.

The accused has now been brought back from Mahoba, where he is posted currently, to Etawah. Mahoba is 246.3 kilometres far from Etawah, which is 224.7 kilometres away from Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

The survivor alleged that the accused had raped her by taking her to hotels. The first incident took place on January 28 this year when the survivor had gone to the police station in connection with the marital dispute. The accused asked her to company him to Etawah court in order to record her statement. However, he took the survivor to a hotel instead and reportedly forced himself upon her. The survivor also alleged that he took obscene pictures and made a video on his mobile phone.

In another incident in August, he used the photos and videos to blackmail the husband to bring the survivor or he would upload them on social media.

The survivor's father has demanded strict punishment for the accused. The women's statement is yet to be recorded before the magistrate and the investigation is still on.
