Originated in ancient India, Yoga is an amalgamation of physical, mental and spiritual practice. Its popularity can be gauged by the fact that it is now practised in several forms around the world.

A lot of countries have started adopting Yoga as an intrinsic part of their lifestyle. Japan rules the roost with 413% growth in the number of people incorporating Yoga in the past 5 years. There are a gamut of reasons behind its popularity.

According to practitioners, yoga leads to a paradigm shift in lifestyle, behaviour and personal beliefs. It is also known to do wonders by nurturing the spiritual aspect of a person.

Besides this, Yoga has also become a booming economic industry. For instance, it is the fourth fastest growing industry in the US. The country is spending $500 per capita per year on yoga accessories like, clothing, mats, classes, Yoga bag, Yoga Music, etc. Yoga pants are one of the most sold fitness products on Amazon with a price range of $40 – $300.

Interestingly, practitioners can choose from among more than 50 different yoga styles. While Hatha, Bikram, Vinyasa and Ashtanga are the most renowned styles as per the DOYOUYOGA global survey, Acroyoga (Acrobatics + Yoga) and Doga (Yoga with your dog) are the most trending yoga styles.
