TRS Candidate Surabhi Vani Devi Wins Seat In The Telangana MLC Elections

Surabhi Vani Devi won against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BPJ) sitting MLC candidate N Ramchander Rao.

TRS Surabhi Vani Devi: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Surabhi Vani Devi won the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduate constituency seat for the Telangana MLC elections.

She won against the Bharatiya Janta Party (BPJ) sitting MLC candidate N Ramchander Rao.

The polling for the two graduates constituencies Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda began on March 14. Vani Devi contested for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat which witnessed a voter turnout of 67.26 per cent. A total of 93 candidates contested from the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituency. A staff of more than 1,000 workers has been involved in the counting of votes for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituencies. The process began on March 17.

The academic, politician and TRS candidate Surabhi Vani Devi is the daughter of the late former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. She was born on April 1, 1952, in Vangara Village, Karimnagar District, Telangana. Vani Devi received her diploma in Fine Arts from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and served as a lecturer in JNTU from 1990 to 1995.

As an educationist and social activist, Vani Devi is the founder-principal of the Sri Venkateshwara Group of Institutions. She also established the Surabhi Educational Society, Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts in 1991. As an artist, Vani Devi has held more than 15 solo exhibitions, several group shows, and seminars in India and globally since 1973.

Vani Devi has been awarded the International Women’s Achievement Award by the Telangana State Government in 2016. She was also awarded the Pratibha Puraskar award by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University.
