Tribal Woman Raped In Raipur: A 30-year-old man allegedly raped a tribal woman and violated her private parts with a wooden stick in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. The woman is now fighting for her life, having lost a considerable amount of blood during the assault.

The 35-year-old survivor was alone at her home on September 17 evening, when a man named Milan Bariha, also a resident of the same village, forced his way into her house with an intention to rape her. According to the Times of India, after the woman resisted his attempts, the accused allegedly used a wooden stick to brutalise her. The woman incurred internal injuries and was left unconscious due to blood loss. That is how her family found her when it came back home.

The woman was referred to Raipur for treatment, nearly 150 kilometres from her village, which falls under Basna police station. The accused was arrested after a zero FIR was registered at Telibandha police station and then passed on to Basna. He has been charged under sections 376 (sexual assault) and 450 (trespassing) of the Indian Penal Code.

This is the second incident of a brutal sexual assault to emerge from Chhattisgarh in the last few days. On September 13, a 28-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and then gangraped by three men in Korba. The accused reportedly detained the woman, tying her hands and feet, and sexually assaulted her for three days. After police began searching for the woman, following a missing complaint filed by her family, the accused let her go. All the three accused in the gangrape case were nabbed by the police.

In August, a man from the Jashpur area of the state was arrested for allegedly assaulting a four-year-old girl. The accused was arrested based on a complaint file by the minor's mother. He was charged under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).
