Just days after being released on bail, a former taekwondo teacher and repeat offender, Sandeep Chauhan, allegedly barged into a woman’s house, raped her and tried to kill her in Southwest Delhi on May 29. Police arrested him again on June 1 and said that he has 25 cases of molestation, stalking, snatching and robbery registered against him, reported IE.

DCP (southwest) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere said an FIR under IPC sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), 392 (robbery), 328 (poisoning), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (threatening) has been registered against Chauhan based on the woman’s complaint.

The 27-year-old woman, whom the accused targeted, lives alone in a rented apartment. She was returning from her office at 9.30 pm when the incident, said the police. The accused forcibly entered the house when she was opening the door to get in.

“He allegedly locked the door from inside, assaulted her and tried to strangle her. Chauhan then tied her hands and legs, before consuming liquor and forcing her to drink as well. He allegedly raped her before leaving at 4 am with her phone,” said a senior officer.

He came out of jail a few days ago. Around 25 cases are registered against him. During questioning on April 15, Chauhan had told police that he masturbated in front of women after getting drunk

The woman went to her office the next day and explained the situation to her colleague who then took her to the Vasant Kunj police station to file an FIR. “Police asked for her help in describing the accused. As she listed the details, police, at one point, showed her a photo of Chauhan, and she confirmed that he was the accused. Police arrested him using technical surveillance,” an officer said.

Chauhan was a taekwondo teacher and used to teach in a school. He received his training from a leading college in martial arts, he told the police. He has a wife and two children.

Police said that they arrested Chauhan last year for molesting a woman and released him this year in March. “He came out of jail a few days ago. Around 25 cases are registered against him. During questioning on April 15, Chauhan had told police that he masturbated in front of women after getting drunk,” an officer said.

Earlier than this, police had arrested Chauhan for masturbating in front of two women in Vasant Kunj.
