On May 21, we woke up to a beautiful throwback by Sushmita Sen. It’s been 24 years since she won her Miss Universe crown in 1994. The actor Instagrammed the epic moment not only for herself, but for the entire country.
Back in 1994, Sen created history by becoming the first Miss India Universe.
The single mother of two posted a status celebrating her singlehood. She wrote that she couldn’t be more proud being independent and a single woman.
The Bollywood actress shared a photo of herself. Sushmita wrote, "I was 18 yrs old when #India won Miss Universe for the very first time on 21st May 1994....I am 42 now, still a ‘Miss' with a ‘Universe' inside of me!!!! (sic)"
Twenty-four years ago, Sushmita stunned the world and put India’s name on the world map. But since then, she's surely earned much more. The unmarried actress adopted a baby girl (Renee) at a time when women were just beginning to take control over their rights to be independent in this male-dominated world. The news of her adopting a child made big headlines.

Having got a taste of motherhood, Sushmita did it again. A few years later, she adopted another baby girl, Alisah.
The beauty ambassador has donned many hats alongside being a single mother. Apart from having worked in some notable movies, she has walked the ramp and started businesses owner.
With a gruelling fitness regime, this 42-year-old fab mom is surely a role model for us!
