Sushma Swaraj Helps Rajasthan Girl Realise Her US Dream
Under the scheme of the Rajasthan government, top three merit holders in Class X from government schools were given scholarships to study abroad.
The girl, Bhanupriya Haritwal, hails from Jalalpur village in Sikar was awarded the scholarship. She had secured second position in Class X in 2015.
Bhanupriya had started prepping up to pursue computer science in the US. She had even chosen a four-year engineering degree programme from California State University.
She did her schooling in Hindi medium.
Soon after her class XII exams, Bhanupriya prepared for the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and IELTS. She got a good score which helped her get admission in a good foreign university
Bhanupriya had even cleared the entrance test of the university. Her dream, however, was shattered when she was denied visa twice due to ‘unknown reasons’.
The family approached Sikar MP Swami Sumedhanand, who reportedly approached Swaraj for help.
Sushma Swaraj – the saviour
This is not the first time that Sushma Swaraj has helped people in distress. The External Affairs Minister helped a mother who was seeking visa approval for her disabled daughters in January 2017.
Earlier, Swaraj had also announced that stranded Indians can register on the government’s MADAD portal for help. “Please register your grievance on http://www.madad.gov.in. Then tweet your problem to concerned Indian Embassy/authority giving your Madad ID registration number and endorse the same to me. Your MADAD ID will give us all details. We are here to help you,” Swaraj had said.
