A report by Hindustan Times suggests that NCB has recorded Modi's statement in connection with its ongoing investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput case. She has been on the radar of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as well as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which are probing the financial angle in the Rajput's death case. She was interrogated by the agencies in September last year, in relation to her alleged involvement in money laundering. Modi's lawyer, last year, claimed that Shruti Modi was aware of Rajput's drug use and had offered to quit her job. But he insisted that she should stay.

In an interview with The Times of India, her lawyer Ashok Saraogi said, “When she found out about it (Sushant’s drug use) after 10 days of joining, Shruti decided to quit but Sushant told her to stay back and told her that he will not be party to it. So she continued to work as his manager on this condition.” He said that Modi’s name has been dragged into the investigation because she refused to deliver a few demands made by Rajput’s family. “It is possible that she did not follow the instructions of the sister, so they may have some grievances. They wanted certain account details from her which she declined to part with,” he had claimed.

At that time, leaked chat messages between Shruti Modi and Rhea Chakraborty had claimed that the actor had promised to quit marijuana. The NCB has so far arrested over 25 people including Chakraborty, her brother Showik and several drug peddlers from Mumbai in the case. Chakraborty and Showik are currently out on bail and recently visited the NCB office on Monday (January 4) to mark their attendance.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14. He was 34.
