The female student who showed up at the centre at Rudrappa College on the TET examination day showed her admit card at the hall centre entrance when the incident came to light and the principal intervened. The student herself was shocked looking at the image as she had not expected someone else's photo on her admit card.

The police believe this specific goof-up may have happened while uploading the photograph information into the online application. The candidate informed the police that she did not apply online herself and that she had taken the help of others too in the application process.

The education department about this examination told the media that they had no role whatsoever in this blunder that grabbed eyeballs around. The Public Instruction department representative said that they had given clear instructions to the appearing candidates telling them to use their user-generated IDs and passwords exclusively and safely while filling out the applications. "The department does not have a role to play in the application filling and uploading process. We are definitely not involved in the case the media is reporting. However, we have requested the police to investigate the matter and take necessary action against those responsible for this good-up," he said.

The case gathered further attention after a tweet carrying the screenshot of the admit card went viral. A probe has now been ordered and a case filed in the state’s cybercrime unit.
