Instagram Star Abbie Quinnen Suffers Severe Burns After 'Life Hack' Video Goes Wrong

Abbie Quinnen, popular Instagram influencer and girlfriend of Strictly Come Dancing's star AJ Pritchard, has had to undergo intensive burn treatment and surgery after a social media stunt went awry.

In January this year, the couple was attempting to film a 'life hack' video by slicing a glass bottle in half with an inflamed rope to create a vase. Reportedly, the stunt backfired and the glass bottle exploded, causing Quinnen's upper body to catch fire.

The incident left the 23-year-old seriously injured and she required skin grafts to treat her three-degree burns. As per reports, she has sought treatment at the UK's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, as well as Ealing Hospital.

Sources recently told Metro, "Abbie has undergone surgery on her upper body and will continue to receive treatment."

Following the news, Quinnen took to Instagram to update fans on the situation and her health. On March 21, she explained, "Whilst we were attempting to create a glass bottle into a vase following a YouTube tutorial it went terribly wrong and it resulted in me incurring injuries and burns requiring continuous hospital treatment over the past seven weeks."

She went on to thank her doctors and issued a note of caution to her followers, "I really need you all to be so careful with what you're doing and if you are copying any YouTube videos. I will be ok. I love you all!"

Pritchard who was present on-site when the fire incident happened reportedly tried to clamp the fire with a wet tea towel. He called for medical emergency, but since they would have taken time to arrive at the location, his brother Curtis drove Quinnen to hospital.

"Abbie was shocked and in a great deal of pain... He was terrified himself but he did all he could to stop her from burning," representatives said. 

He has reportedly been helping her recover her financial losses, due to time away from work, with his earnings from television. He is also a professional dancer known for having appeared on shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent.
