In a one minute long video released by the USA today, the 56-year-old hip hop enthusiast demanded to be seen and not as a minority race but as an individual. She said, "I am demanding to be seen, which I see as political because middle-aged women are so neatly and fastidiously erased by the dominant culture in this country."

Asian women, who are painted as submissive, obedient, polite and "definitely not one to upset the apple cart" is a stereotype faced by women of the race for years and Chang is in her fight to burst such myths.
