Shrikant Tyagi's Wife Anu Tyagi Says He Is BJP Member And Alleges Police Harassment

Self-proclaimed Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Shrikant Tyagi was arrested for abusing and assaulting a woman in his housing society in Noida. His wife Anu Tyagi was detained by the police for questioning hours before he was arrested in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Shrikant Tyagi claims to be a member of the political party BJP Kisan Morcha, however, BJP has denied any link with him. His wife Anu Tyagi told India Today that her husband was a member of the BJP and that their family was being harassed at BJP MP Mahesh Sharma's behest. She said, “My husband was a BJP member. This entire drama is being played out at the behest of Mahesh Sharma. He abused the police commissioner. That’s why they were behaving like that with us.”

According to Anu Tyagi, her husband surrendered to the police and was not caught in a raid. Speaking about why he absconded for days, she said, “My husband would have surrendered the first day. But we were only waiting for a lawyer so that we could take appropriate legal recourse.”

Anu Tyagi also alleged that her staff members were subjected to third-degree torture and that her children were being harassed. She said that she was not tortured physically but faced mental harassment. Tyagi said the police called her named and misbehaved with her. She added that she faced harassment even though she was fully cooperating in the investigation.

Shrikant Tyagi was seen on video abusing and pushing a woman as they got into a dispute. The viral video also showed him abusing the woman’s husband. The woman resided in the same housing society as him and they were arguing about the palm tree he had planted in the park.

Reportedly, he threatened the woman with dire consequences if she touched the plant he had planted.

The video of Tyagi abusing the woman went viral and he was booked for abusing and threatening the woman. Tyagi absconded for days as the police began a manhunt for him. He was arrested in Uttar Pradesh with three of his associates.
