The 'Super Bass' rapper Nicki Minaj shared pictures of her baby bump on Monday and announced that she is pregnant with husband Kenneth Petty. The couple, who got married in October 2019, is expecting their first child. Instagramming the moment with her 119.4m followers, the 37-year-old rapper shared multiple pictures in which she is seen cradling her bare baby bump, wearing a floral bikini and sporting silver platform high heels.
Keeping the caption simple, she wrote, "#Preggers"
Kenneth “Zoo” Petty and the Trinidadian-born rapper Nicki first grabbed the spotlight when sparked pregnancy rumours in May. Sharing another picture, the 'Chu-Li' singer wrote: "Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes."
Last month she opened up to the
People magazine about her marriage and how much she enjoys being in a relationship. "When you have someone that feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, it just makes you feel like you're on top of the world," Nicki reflected.
The couple first dated when she was 16, long before her rap dreams ever took off, TMZ reported. Nicki then dated Meek Mill and Safaree Samuels before finally committing to Kenneth again in 2018. Musician Derrick Milano, previously told PEOPLE that Nicki and Kenneth are friends “since they were kids.”
Controversy erupted when Kenneth was registered as a sex offender in New York and served time in prison for manslaughter in 2006, People reported. When Nicki started dating him again, she also got involved in the controversy and defended her partner saying, "He was 15, she was 16… in a relationship. But go awf Internet. y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life," she said in December 2018.
She revealed in Queen Radio show on July 21, 2019, that she and Kenneth had secretly gotten a marriage license. "We'll definitely do the paperwork portion of the marriage, but the actual wedding, I don't know," she told The Shade Room. last year. "You know when you’re a little girl and you want this big beautiful wedding, and I used to think I was one of those girls, I always wanted the fairytale. But then the things that used to matter to you don’t matter as much."
Speaking about married life in June, Nicki told fellow rapper, Lil Wayne, that, “I didn’t think it would be as refreshing and calming as it is. Even if you're not married, when you have someone that feels like your soulmate or someone who understands you, it just makes you feel like you’re on top of the world."
