Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Philanthropic Endeavours

As the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Priyanka Chopra Jonas frequently supports ventures aimed at the welfare and development of underprivileged communities. Earlier this year, Chopra Jonas partnered with electronics giant JBL to help children in Los Angeles adapt to online learning by providing them with headphones.

In April 2020, Chopra Jonas also took part in the World Health Organization and Global Citizen’s 'One World: Together At Home' - a star-studded virtual event organised to raise funds for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan also participated in this event. Last year, Priyanka Chopra Jonas collaborated with footwear retailer Crocs to provide 50, 000 pairs of classic clogs to underprivileged children in a Central American country called Belize.

However, in August 2019, Chopra was called out at an event in the US for a tweet she posted in February amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Several people pointed out that it is not a correct stance for a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for peace to take. Earlier this year, she was also trolled for speaking up against racism and violence that the African-American community faces in the US, in light of George Floyd’s custodial death. The outrage was because she never chose to speak out during the CAA-NRC protests and Delhi riots.
