Rapper and singer, Nicki Minaj, has been doing a lot of charity work of late — from flying her fans to her concert to sponsoring their education. But her recent effort has left us Indians admiring her even more. The ‘Anaconda’ singer posted an image on Instagram on Saturday (May 20) to acknowledge that she has been sending money to a poor village in India for the past couple of years to provide them with access to clean water, education and other basic amenities.
Initially, she posted a video in which a man and a few villagers are standing against a brand new hand pump. The man is thanking the organisation that helped them get clean water in the village. Minaj wrote, “This is the kind of thing that makes me feel the most proud. The money I’ve sent to this village in India for the last couple years [via my Pastor Lydia Sloley], has gotten them a Computer Center, a Tailoring Institute, a Reading Program and 2 WATER WELLS.”
She added, “We complain about the most ridiculous little things when some ppl don’t even have clean water. Blessings to India. Our work is far from done. I’ll tell you guys more about my charity work in the near future in case you’d like to be a part of it. Love”
Then she posted another picture on Sunday (May 21) which showed some Indian women sitting on the floor with sewing machines kept in from of them. Minaj wrote along with the picture, “I’m so proud of our sisters in India. God is so good. Their desire was to have water wells & places where they can worship, places where they can learn technology, computers, reading, etc. We’re just getting started. These women are us and we are them.”

Minaj recently took it upon herself to sponsor the education of children who got good grades in their schools but don’t have funds to go to college. She asked her fans on Twitter to send her pictures of their marksheets which are verifiable and then message her their bank details. This way she has funded the education fee of nearly 30 people from different parts of the world. Her charity work is gaining equal popularity as her songs and nobody can complain about that.
