Reports of Under-23 National Level Wrestler Nisha Dahiya being shot dead surfaced on Wednesday evening. Not long after many media houses carried the report, Dahiya shared a video in which she refuted the rumours and said, " I am absolutely fine."
The wrestling said that she is in Gonda to play the senior nationals and fake news about her death is doing rounds. A report by the Press Trust of India quoted the coach who travelled with the Indian team who said that a newcomer wrestler named Nisha Dahiya was shot dead in Sonipat and not the U-23 champion. Sonipat superintendent of police Rahul Sharma told ANI, "This Nisha Dahiya (shot dead) and medalist wrestler Nisha Dahiya are two different people. The medalist wrestler belongs to Panipat and is at an event now."

So far there has been little update about the Nisha Dahiya shot dead in Sonipat. There were also reports about the Sushil Kumar Wrestling being set on fire the wrestler was shot but there has been no confirmation for the same.
The U-23 champion on November 5, won India a bronze in the 65 kg category at the Wrestling U-23 World Championships in Serbia, along with four other women wrestlers. Their performances got recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who said their achievement would "contribute to wrestling becoming even more popular across India."
