Goons Gangrape Student, Thrash Her Boyfriend Near Mysore: Cops

The girl's boyfriend was severely thrashed. The couple is recovering in a local hospital. The accused, on the other hand, fled the scene.

Mysore Gangrape Case: A gang of robbers allegedly gangraped a girl and beat up her boyfriend as they refused to give money to them. The incident took place on 24 August near Mysore. According to the FIR filed, the couple had gone to Chamundi Hills in the outskirts of the city. That's when a group of goons surrounded them and asked them for money.

Their refusal to give money didn't go down well with the goons who took the extreme step of gangraping the woman. Her boyfriend was severely thrashed. The couple is recovering in a local hospital. The accused, on the other hand, fled the scene. Therefore, no arrests have been made yet but the probe is on, as per a report.

A gang-rape case under Section 376-D of the Indian Penal Code has been filed. The police authorities are yet to record the statement of the woman.

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra told ANI, "It's unfortunate incident. An FIR has been registered. We've sent senior officials including ADGP Pratap Reddy to Mysuru. I'm also going to Mysuru tomorrow. We'll take strict action against the culprits"

Where is Chamundi hills?

Chamundi hills, where the incident happened, is about 13 kilometres away the city of Mysore. The famous Sri Chamundeswari Temple is located here. It is also 150 km away from the capital city Bengaluru.

Last week, four minors and one man were arrested for the alleged gangrape of an elderly woman. The incident took place in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh. A 65-year-old woman was returning home from her sister's house at around 10 PM when she was allegedly gangraped by the accused who then fled the spot. Read more about the incident here.
