MP Horror: Four Minors, One Other Held For Gangrape Of Elderly Woman

MP Elderly Woman Gangrape: Four minors and one man were arrested on Sunday for the alleged gangrape of an elderly woman. Initially, the police had thought that only two out of the five accused are minors but upon verification, the police officials found that four out of the five men were minors and are accused of the crime, according to reports. The fifth accused is reportedly 24 years of age.

The incident took place in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, where an elderly woman aged 65 years was returning home at around 10 PM on August 15. The area comes under the Jayant Police Outpost of the District. According to a police statement, she was allegedly gangraped by five men on her way back from her sister's house. After this, the accused reportedly fled the spot and the elderly woman registered the complaint at the outpost.

A police official from the Jayant Police Outpost, Abhimanyu Dwivedi said in his statement, "As per the complaint, the survivor is resident of Morwa police station of the district. She had gone to her sisters’ house. On Sunday, she was returning home when the accused waylaid her and took turns to rape her."

The official added, "After the accused fled, the survivor rushed to the police outpost to register her complaint. Based on her complaint, a case was registered and we launched a hunt to arrest the accused. (sic)" All the five accused were reportedly arrested on Monday.

Delhi Cantt Case Update

In the case, wherein a minor Dalit girl was allegedly gangraped and killed a priest and other men, the parents of the deceased child have now moved to the Delhi High Court to seek justice. They are seeking direction for judicial inquiry and the constitution of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a probe. The police have so far found no evidence of rape in the case, as per reports.
