Mumbai: Boxing Coach Accused Of Raping His Minor Student

The police added that the incident took place on Sunday and the survivor couldn't report the crime as she was allegedly threatened by the accused person.

Boxing Coach Rapes Minor: Police arrested a 30-year-old boxing coach on Wednesday who allegedly raped his 14-year-old student in Mulund.

The coach named Umesh Sonilal Rajak works at Athlete Club in Mulund. He called the minor girl to his house and later took her to the club and allegedly raped her, the police said on Thursday.

The police added that the incident took place on Sunday and the survivor couldn't report the crime as she was allegedly threatened by the accused person. Umesh threatened the minor girl that if she decides to tell anyone about the rape, he will end her boxing career. The girl told her family about it three days when a complaint was lodged against Umesh.

The accused person has now been booked under section 376, rape, of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act( POSCO), the police said.

Umesh is reportedly a resident of Vashinaika in Chembur. The parents of the survivor had sent the girl to take training from him as she wanted to pursue a career in boxing.
