Mumbai: Man Accused Of Sexually Abusing Minors In The Name Of YouTube Prank Videos

Two other persons have been arrested along with Mukesh Gupta. According to the police, "17 such channels from Facebook and YouTube earned ₹ 2 crores using the videos."

Youtube prank videos: Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for making "inappropriate videos" in the name of making prank videos for Youtube and Facebook.

Mukesh Gupta, the accused, gives tuition classes to earn a living. He was a topper of Class 10 boards in 2008. Joint Commissioner of Police Milind Bharambare said that the videos made by Gupta involved" inappropriate touching" and using "lewd comments". He used to get minors involved in such videos claiming do be doing a prank video.

Two other persons have been arrested along with Mukesh Gupta. According to the police, "17 such channels from Facebook and YouTube earned ₹ 2 crores using the videos." The police started an investigation after they got complaints from several women.  Bharambare further said that such videos have increased in number during the COVID-19 lockdown and that more than 300 videos have been made on 17 Youtube channels.

Mukesh Gupta has been charged with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012. The police have asked Youtube to remove the videos.

Recently, there have many reports of cyberbullying and online harassment. In early February, a 19-year-old ma was arrested for allegedly stalking over 50 women and minors by using his fake social media identities. He was also accused of morphing their pictures and spreading them online. The police said that the accused committed the crime just for his "personal satisfaction."
