Mirabai Chanu encourage sports girls: Indian Olympian and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu said that girls looking forward to enter the field of sports should be supported and encouraged.
She told ">ANI that she was 14 years old when she started and had to go through many problems. Dearth of good facilities was one of them. However, her parents supported her during her training days and pushed her to follow her dream. The government also backed her. She requested everyone to support those girls who want to enter the field of sports.
She is an ardent believer of the fact that Indian players really work hard and will make the country proud if the younger generation gets desired support.
Chanu was recently seen in the dance reality show Dance Deewane 3. She was invited there as a guest celebrity. She was alongside judges Madhuri Dixit, Tushar Kalia, and Dharmesh Yelande. She was there to mark the country’s 75th Independence Day celebrations.
Recently, her biopic's title has also been registered. The biopic Mirabai Chanu will be dubbed into English and various other languages to ensure that the Olympian's story reaches a wide number of people. Read more about her biopic.
Just after winning the medal at Tokyo Olympics, she had said in an interview that her victory would encourage more women to enter weightlifting.
A few weeks ago, she felicitated the truck drivers who used to offer her free rides back and forth from her home to the Khuman Lampak sports centre. This helped the family save money on her commute.
