A minor tried to end her life by consuming poison after she was allegedly sexually harassed by a boy and a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Thursday. One of the two accused reportedly grabbed her and tried to drag her. The teen somehow escaped the spot and returned home.

According to reports, the 15-year-old survivor had gone to the hand pump in her village in the morning to fetch some water. The two accused reportedly arrived at the spot and sexually harassed her. When one of them reportedly grabbed her and tried to drag her away, the survivor managed to escape the grip and fled the spot. She returned home traumatised. Thereafter, she reportedly tried to kill herself by consuming poison. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition was reported to be stable.

Reportedly, the incident was seen by one or two persons of the village. One of the two accused is a minor. Both of them have been arrested, said circle officer Namrata Srivastav.

Similar cases were reported in Bulandshahr over the past few days

Crimes against women have been increasing manifold around the country. Over the past few days, more such cases from the district have come to light. Another teen from Bulandshahr was raped on August 15, and later was set afire by seven men, who were relatives of the accused. She was being forced to withdraw the complaint against the perpetrator. The minor succumbed to her injuries.
