MacKenzie Bezos is now officially the 18th richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. MacKenzie, who holds a four percent share in Amazon's stakes witnessed an increase in her wealth after a major portion of the world was forced into lockdown because of coronavirus. She replaced India's richest person Mukesh Ambani on the 18th spot in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Her net worth now stands at $45.7 Billion.

How MacKenzie Replaced India's Richest Person

However, with a major portion of the world under lockdown, online shopping sites like Amazon are the best rescue option for people. In India, the stock markets crashed badly in March as we were preparing to deal with the pandemic. Post lockdown was imposed, Mukesh Ambani lost nearly $16.8 B, according to the Bloomberg data. After this, his net worth came down to $41.8 B. For MacKenzie, the net worth increased to $45.7 B, after Amazon saw a spurt in its sales.

MacKenzie Is The Richest Woman To Sign The Giving Pledge

Earlier in June 2019, Mackenzie Bezos became the wealthiest woman to sign the Giving Pledge. Soon after her divorce settlement, she promised to give half of her assets away. “I have a disproportionate amount of money to share,” she declared. “I will keep at it until the safe is empty”. Giving away half of her assets, which stood at around $17 billion that time, wasn’t the first time for her. Back in 2018, when she was still married to Jeff Bezos, the couple had decided to donate $2 billion to the homeless and fund a network of schools too.

Also, when she divorced Jeff Bezos, and all the paperwork was completed, she became the third richest woman in the world. MacKenzie and Jeff Bezos met each at a New York hedge fund, and eventually got married. However, their  26-year-long marriage culminated in 2019, and the couple released a joint statement to let the world know.

Other rich women in the Billionaires Index include American heir to the fortune of Walmart Inc., Alice Louise Walton (the richest woman in the world), followed by French Author Francoise Bettencourt Meyers. Next in the list is American Philanthropist Julia Flesher Koch with a net worth of $51.6 B. The list has 500 billionaires from all across the world.
