A man claiming was arrested by the police on Thursday at Jama Mazar near Hussainabad, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The accused, namely Nasir aka Baba, claims himself to be an occultist who treats childless couples. He was caught indulging in indecent behaviour with a woman in a video which has now gone viral.

The aforementioned video reportedly shows the accused sexually harassing a woman. The video was reportedly shot by the locals as they stormed into the room.

ACP, Chowk, I P Singh said “We have booked Nasir on charges of sexual assault, rape and dishonesty. He has been sent to jail”.

More incidents on superstition

Superstitions prevail in our country, many similar reports have surfaced in the past as well. In March 2018, a four-month-old girl from the Rama Kheda village was branded with a hot iron rod on the stomach to cure her severe cough and cold. However, when her condition worsened, she was rushed to a nearby hospital.

In another incidence, people in Uttar Pradesh spend some time in jail, which would be instrumental in keeping away any kind of troubles in the future. The Lucknow district administration receives around 24 such applications to spend some time in lock-up on religious grounds.

Moreover, witch-hunting is also common in various parts of India still. Last month, a 75-year-old woman was branded as a witch and killed by her neighbour in Salami village of Gumla, Jharkhand. Read about it here.

A six-year-old girl from Ghazipur, New Delhi was killed by her mother after the girl saw her with her lover. Later, the woman made up a story of an occultist killing her daughter.

Update: According police report the man was a self-professed tantrik.
