Soon Lingerie Vending Machine to Debut in Delhi

Who would have thought of buying lingerie-on-the-go? After Mumbai recently got its first ever innerwear vending machine, the idea is soon to set base in the national capital. The Mumbai-based brand Lingerie Shop founder Radhika Goenka has promised that Delhi will have its own intimate wear vending machine soon and the work will begin in a month.

"We have just launched our first vending machine at VAMA Departmental Store on Peddar Road, Mumbai, and are planning to launch the next one at the Delhi international airport by February 2018," Goenka told IANS.

“The Lingerie Shop vending machine is a small step towards revolutionising the Indian lingerie industry with intelligent innovation,”

The vending machine offers bras and underpants from her first collection - Be Mine. The collection only has black undergarments on sale.

Goenka who is the heiress of Welspun Group thought that lingerie buying for women still has a stigma attached to it. Due to which she thought of starting the vending machine for ease of shopping. “There is a stereotype attached with buying lingerie in public or even talking about it for that matter. The vending machine has been launched to change that perception...”

“The Lingerie Shop vending machine is a small step towards revolutionising the Indian lingerie industry with intelligent innovation,” Goenka added.

Such innovative ideas to sell lingerie in India are impacting the way women have for so long perceived lingerie buying. The traditional way does restrict women from buying fancier lingerie. However, with the digital world stepping in, now women have even started considering buying innerwears online.

With the vending machine, we will have to see how women will decide the size. Sizing in lingerie in itself a hassling criterion. It is in the future to see if these vending machine will also have a changing room. And if it does have a changing room, how convenient will it prove for the buyer to return a piece of lingerie once the machine has dispensed it.
