"Kim Yo Jong seems to have been included so the North Korean delegation will be on the same level as other nations and their family members who are participating the celebration," said the South Korean government.

Kim Yo Jung was seen with a broad smile waving farewell while departing for South Korea. She is part of a 22 member delegation that will attend the opening ceremony of the Games. They will stay in South Korea for three days.

American Vice President, Mike Pence, will also attend the opening ceremony, along with Ivanka Trump. There is a possibility that he may meet North Korean representatives.

“We will not allow North Korean propaganda to hijack the message and imagery of the Olympic Games. We will not allow North Korea to hide behind the Olympic banner the reality that they enslave their people and threaten the wider region," said Pence.
