J&K Announces Scholarship To Children Who Lost Their Parents To COVID-19

Governor mentioned that social welfare schemes like old-age pension, Laadli Beti etc and PMAY, MGNREGA and other schemes will be released shortly.

Jammu And Kashmir lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a Scholarship for children who lost their parents to COVID-19 on May 11.

Families which lost their earning members to the Coronavirus will be provided a lifelong pension and children who lost their parents to the same will be granted student scholarship.

Scholarship For Children Without Parents

Sinha said, "At a time when this global pandemic has rendered daily workers jobless, the Government has decided to provide Rs 1000 per month to all registered construction workers, pony walas, palki walas, pithu walas for the next two months."

In another separate tweet, Sinha revealed that the top-most priority is to defeat this pandemic with people's cooperation and requested citizens to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and get vaccinated. He further confirmed to citizens that they will soon prevail over this pandemic collectively.

He also mentioned that social welfare schemes like old-age pension, Laadli Beti etc and PMAY, MGNREGA and other schemes will be released shortly.

Supply of ration to all ration cardholders will be considered a priority. The Old-Age Homes, Orphanages will be extended all the support from the government including rations etc.

Recently, the Union Territory announced a postponement of the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) exam due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The official notification read, "Due to surge in Covid-19 cases across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the JKSSB has reached to the conclusion that it would not be reasonable to conduct the examinations on the scheduled/ notified dates."

In a separate notice, the JKSSB issued the Provisional Allocation of Districts/Cadres in favour of qualified candidates for the post of Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) in the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.
