One of the best women's cricketers, Jhulan Goswami has announced her retirement from Twenty20 Internationals. The Bengal tigress, who became the first cricketer to claim 200 ODI wickets in the history of women’s cricket earlier this year, chooses to stay out of T20Is format, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a release on Thursday, 23 August.
The pacer, with the all-time record for wickets in women's one-day internationals, has till now played 68 T20Is. She picked up 56 wickets over the course.
The BCCI release stated: "Goswami thanked the BCCI and her teammates for all the love and support she garnered during her stint with the T20I team and wished them luck going forward."

She announced her retirement ahead of the ICC Women's World T20 2018 in the Caribbean in November this year.
The 34-year-old fast bowler had also made a valuable contribution during her tenure as the captain of the team. Goswami was one of the pillars of the Indian women’s cricket team during the World Cup tournament last year.
The Arjuna awardee debuted in 2002 against England. She is recognized as one of the fastest bowlers in the game and won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award in 2007. She also is a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri.
The first male cricketer to score 200 ODI wickets is also an Indian — the great Kapil Dev. In May 2017, Goswami became the leading wicket-taker in Women’s One-Day Internationals. With the feat, Goswami overtook Australian Cathryn Fitzpatrick, who once recorded 180 wickets.
Last year, Jhulan Goswami also became the first Indian woman cricketer to sign up for a biopic on her life. The working title of the film is ‘Chakdah Express’. Here's wishing Goswami all the best!
