Jabalpur: Engineering Student Attempts To Rape Child, Drops Her Home After She Cries

A man in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur has been arrested for the attempted rape of a four-year-old girl, as per reports on Wednesday. The 21-year-old accused is a student of engineering and allegedly lured the girl to his house. After the child began weeping, he reportedly dropped her back to her house.

According to news agency PTI, police arrested the man and charged him under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the little girl narrated the incidents back to her parents and they filed a complaint.

The accused studies in a private college and lives in the Vijay Nagar area.

Multiple disturbing cases of rape have been reported from Jabalpur in recent times. Only three days ago, a report emerged of a class ninth girl allegedly being raped by her school senior in a cafe.

Earlier this month, another 11-year-old minor was reportedly gangraped by her father's friends in Jabalpur. They came around to the house when her father was absent and took advantage of the situation. As per reports, it was not the girl's parents who raised a complaint with the police but a local woman who claimed to have heard about the incident in the neighbourhood.

Earlier this year in September, a shocking case came to light in which a teen boy in Rajasthan allegedly murdered a woman who he unsuccessfully tried to rape. He then proceeded to sexually assault her corpse, as per reports.
