Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben passed away at a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat earlier today on December 30.

She passed away around 3:30 AM today at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre according to a bulletin from the hospital.

Heeraben Modi was hospitalised on Wednesday, December 28, after her health deteriorated.

A teacher in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh was arrested for allegedly breaking the hand of a five-year-old girl as she could not spell the word 'parrot' correctly.

The accused, 22-year-old Prayag Vishwakarma was taking private tuition classes when he allegedly twisted the student's hand and slapped her for not spelling the word 'parrot' correctly.

Habibganj police station inspector Manish Raj Singh Bhadauriya said the teacher twisted the minor's hand so badly that it got fractured.
