According to reports, the woman was being assaulted by a family member for not cutting off ties with another family member. In the video, a man can be seen beating a woman lying on the roadside with a stick multiple times. The video also shows men and women watching the assault from a distance. Later in the video, the man is seen dragging the woman to the other side of the road. He then leaves her near a cattle shed.

After the video went viral on social media, Dahod district police initiated a probe in the matter and stated that the incident took place in Sagdapada village of the Fatepura taluka in the district on Monday.

Dahod SP Hitesh Joysar said that the woman belongs to a tribal community of the village. He said, "The men, including the one who was hitting her, seen in the video are her relatives. They were angry as the woman did not cut her relations with women from another family, with whom they are having a long-standing dispute. We have arrested all the four accused on the charges of assault and criminal intimidation,"

Reportedly, the woman had to be admitted to a hospital for treatment after the assault. She was later discharged.

Since the incident is among many similar ones in the district, the Dahod police have reportedly launched an awareness campaign in the rural areas. They are urging people to stop violence against women by putting up hoarding in the area. As per Joysar's statement, the police has so far put up hoardings in 100 places.

The police officer added that theatre artists have also joined the awareness drive as they are writing and performing plays to spread awareness among the tribal communities.
