Bodh Gaya Shelter Home Sexual Assault Case: An inmate had alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the employees of the shelter. She claimed that she used to wake with body pain every morning with her clothes scattered in the room.

Divesh Kumar Sharma who is the Assistant Director of the District Child Protection Unit of the shelter home said, "District Magistrate has ordered a probe in this matter. The report is to be presented in 48 hours. The possibility of the incident is unlikely. There is 24X7 police and CCTV surveillance. But the matter will be probed properly."

He further added, "The girl is originally from Nawada but was living in a shelter home in Bodh Gaya. An inquiry is underway. The truth will be out soon."

The DM Abhishek Singh had formed a six-member committee to investigate the shelter home sexual assault case on Thursday. The committee included a senior deputy collector, the SHO of the women's police of Gaya, the assistant director of the child protection unit and two DSPs.

The minor girl is a student in class 9. She had reportedly eloped with her boyfriend after which she was brought to court in July. She was sent to the shelter on July 13 after her parents refused to take her home.

After a while, her father approached the court for her release from the shelter. She later filed an affidavit with all her allegations. The minor girl stayed in the shelter from July 13 to August 10, as per reports.

In her statement, she alleged that during her stay in the shelter she used to wake up with body aches and her clothes scattered across the room. She had alleged that she was sexually assaulted by employees of the shelter of the crime after she consumed spiked milk. The court has directed the Nawada civil surgeon to conduct her medical examination which is still awaited.
