According to reports, on July 6 when a woman was sitting with her friend in an open terrace area a mysterious pebble-like thing hit her in the ribs coming out of nowhere.

French Woman Struck By Meteorite:

The woman described her experience that she heard a big "Poom" and in seconds she felt a shock in her ribs which she thought must be an animal, a bat. But when checked it was a cement-like pebble but it didn't have any colour, the woman told the French newspaper.

The woman later took the pebble that hit her to a local roofer to understand what has happened to her when the roofer informed her the pebble does not have any cement and is not made with cement and said he suspected it to be a meteorite.

She then went to geologist Dr Thierry Rebmann taking the pebble to him and explaining about the incident who then confirmed the "pebble's" extraterrestrial origin and confirmed it to be a meteorite. The geologist explained that the "pebble" had a mixture of iron and silicon present in it that is found in meteorites.

Dr Rebmann also explained that finding a meteorite is itself an uncommon occurrence and finding it in France with a temperate climate zone is rare as well. But a person being struck by a meteorite is an extremely rare phenomenon.

Dr Rebmann explained that the chances of discovering a meteorite in a desert area are more than finding a meteorite in temperate climate environments as the meteorite tends to merge with other elements of the environment.

According to NASA, about 50 tonnes of meteorite material tends to fall on Earth every day.

While meteorites are described as the 'space rocks' that survive Earth's atmosphere hitting its ground.

In a similar incident from New Jersey, USA, a meteorite of about four-by-six inches burst into a house through its roof. The house had a raunch-style roof and a meteorite hit the house damaging even the hardwood floor. Thankfully at the time of the incident, the family was not in the house as informed by Hopewell Township Police Department.
