Hima Das wins gold: Sprinter Hima Das defeated S Dhanalakshmi and won the gold medal in the 200-meter race at Federation Cup. Das clocked 23. 21 seconds.
This is the second gold medal won by the sprinter in 2021, earlier she outpaced everyone at Indian Grand Prix II and had won the women's 200 m race. Das was also appointed as a DSP in the Assam Police force and while accepting the honour she had said that her responsibilities at the police force will make sports take a back seat in her life.

Yesterday was not particularly good as March 19 for Das as she was defeated by S Dhanalakshmi in 100 and 200 m race of final and semifinals. Dhanalakshmi had broken PT Usha's 23-year-old record. On Thursday, S Dhanalakshmi lost to Hima das as she clocked 23.39 seconds in the 200 m race.
Archana S Suse of Tamil Nadu came third in the race as she clocked 23.60 seconds while Dhaneshwari A T of Karnataka stood fourth with 24.57 seconds.
The 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics was going on in Patiala, Punjab. In the women's high jump category, Gercena Merly scored the gold medal by taking a leap of 1.84m.
