Ellen DeGeneres To Be Neighbours With Meghan Markle And Prince Harry In California

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi could soon be neighbours with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and baby Archie. The couple reportedly bought an estate worth $49million in Montecito, California.

Ellen and Portia are said to have bought the property in late September from Dennis Miller, the SNL comedian and political commentator, and his wife, former model Carolyn Espley-Miller. According to The Wall Street Journal, the private deal makes the compound one of the priciest ever sold in the Santa Barbara County area.

DeGeneres and de Rossi's new home is reportedly spread over 4.3acres and features a 9,000 sqft South African Cape Dutch-style main building, a guesthouse, a pool-house, a detached garage and a barn. Apart from that there is a large lily pond with a rowboat and stocked with fish and an infinity-edged swimming pool.

Meghan Markle and Harry, the new neighbours of DeGeneres bought their own Italian-style Montecito pad this summer for $14.7million.

The home is known as ‘The Chateau’. It has sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, century-old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children's cottage and a pool. The place has a land area of 5.4 acres and has been described as a 'hidden paradise' as it is surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooks the sea.

The royal couple has been holding many paid virtual engagements from their home, offering glimpses of the decor, including their neutral tones in the living room.

Markle and Harry have reportedly settled down in California. They are said to have handed the keys of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, over to pregnant Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank. The couple is expecting their first child in the New Year. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle recently revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in July this year.

In the summer of 2020,  DeGeneres talk show faced controversy for being a toxic workplace and alleged harassment towards staff such as racial discrimination and sexual misconduct. Warner Bros. then started investigating her show in July. After investigation, DeGeneres apologised and promised to make the workplace a kind place as she had always intended.
