Another legal notice was sent to Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for her "derogatory tweet" against farmers and activists involved in the ongoing protest against new farm bills. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Friday sent the notice, seeking an unconditional apology, and also asked her to remove the particular "insensitive" tweets.

"We have sent a legal notice to Kangana Ranaut for her derogatory tweet calling the aged mother of a farmer as a woman available for Rs 100. Her tweets portray farmers protest as anti-national. We demand an unconditional apology from her for her insensitive remarks on farmers protest," Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president of DSGMC, said in a tweet.

Singh is referring to the incident when Ranaut had mistaken an elderly woman participating in the rally to be the famous Bilkis Bano. The elder woman in the photograph was later identified as Mahinder Kaur, the wife of a farmer. Earlier this week, a legal notice had been sent to the Queen actress by a Chandigarh lawyer for her remark and making a false claim on social media. Ranaut later went on to delete her post.

Ranaut  retweeted the post with pictures of two elderly women, including Bilkis Bano, and wrote, “Ha ha ha, she is the same Dadi who was named by Time Magazine as India’s most powerful person…And she is available in 100 rupees. Pakistani journos have hijacked international PR for India in an embarrassing way. We need our own people to speak for us internationally.”

Later, reacting to Ranaut’s comment, Mahinder Kaur, who is a farmer herself, told Indian Express, “I was told some actor wrote about me like this. She never visited my house, never saw what I am doing and she said that ‘I am available at Rs 100’. Bhot buri gal hai…assi ki karne hai 100 rupaye. I have three daughters, all are married. My son lives with me along with his wife and children. I have harvested crop with sickles. I pick cotton even now. At home, I sow vegetables for the family myself and take care of the crop.

On her decision to participate in the protests, she said, “I can go to Delhi even now. I have that enthusiasm .. I am active enough to be part of farmers’ agitation.”

On Thursday, Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh took a dig at Ranaut and called her out in public for her comments on the same topic. She has been slammed by Mika Singh, Swara Bhaskar and Taapsee Pannu, who came out in Diljit’s support.

After a day-long online fight, Ranaut took to Twitter and shared:

In the second tweet, she said, “This Bill is going to transform farmers lives for better in many ways, I understand the anxiousness and effect of many rumours but I am certain government will address all doubts, please be patient. I am with my farmers and people of Punjab hold a special place in my heart.”
