 President Donald Trump slammed former actress and currently the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle for her recent comments about the upcoming US elections. He said that he was "not a fan" of the Suits star Markle and wished her husband, Prince Harry an ironic "good luck."

Reportedly, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle urged American voters to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity” in the US election. They did not mention Trump or his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, by name. However, some have interpreted their comments as critical of Trump.

The video was created as part of a Time magazine feature that aired on ABC on Tuesday evening. They did not endorse any candidates, but reportedly Markle called the election “the most important election of our lifetime.”

She said, “Every four years, we are told the same thing that this is the most important election of our lifetime but this one is.” She further said, “Your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do, and you deserve to be heard.”

During a White House press conference, President Trump was asked about the video. The reporter said that the couple “essentially encouraged people to vote for Joe Biden.”

On this remark of Markle, Trump said to the reporters, "I'm not a fan of hers." He added, "I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he's going to need it."

Reportedly in August, Markle said those who did not vote would be “complicit” in its outcome. She explained that people vote to honour those who came before us and to protect those that come after us. She added that's what community is all about and that's specifically what this election is all about.

Her comment inflamed some in the British press, who demanded the couple be stripped of their royal titles.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Meghan Markle  is well-know for playing Rachel Zane in  TV drama “Suits” and Prince Harry is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. They both got married in May 2018. They also have a young son, Archie.

The couple quit frontline British royal duties earlier this year. Subsequently, they moved to California with their one-year-old son.

Markle quoted saying in Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of 2020, "When we vote, our values are put into action, and our voices are heard.”
