Dombivli Gangrape Case: Out Of 33 Accused, Minor Survivor Knew Almost Every Attacker, Police Say

Dombivli Gangrape Case: The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sonali Dhole said that there is no politicial involvement in the alleged gangrape of the 15-year-old girl in Dombivli area.

The officer who had constituted the special investigation team in the case said that the survivor is now in stable condition, as per a report by ANI.

She said, "28 out of 33 identified accused arrested so far, of which two persons are minors. The victim's condition is stable. She knew the accused through social media. No political connection found in the case as of now."

The ACP added that the all the accused persons were either the survivor's friends or friends of friends. A case alleging rape of the minor has been registered against 33 people. The accused persons allegedly assaulted the girl over a period of nine months in Maharashtra's Thane district.

The incident came to light when the 15-year-old shared it with her aunt. The aunt made the minor file a complaint with the police against the accused persons. The police have said that the survivor was familiar with almost every person who allegedly raped her. The survivor is a student of Class 9. 

As per reports, Out of the 28 accused persons arrested by the police, two of them were minors and they have been sent to juvenile correctional facility in Bhiwandi. On the basis of the complaint filed by the survivor, a case under several relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code have been filed against the accused persons. They also include sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said.

According to media reports, the minor was allegedly raped by her boyfriend in January this year who also shot a video of the act. He then circulated the video among his friends. The police said that the friends of the minor then blackmailed the survivor and raped her over the course of last nine months.
