Dombivli Rape Case: Two Minors Out Of 26 Accused Persons Sent To Correctional Facility

The survivor has reportedly named 33 people in the FIR and the police looking for the rest of the accused persons. The police have said that all the named accused persons are between the age group of 16 and 23.

Dombivli Rape Case: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by 29 people in the course of nine months. The police was able to nab 26 accused persons in the case. Two of the accused are minors and have been to juvenile correctional facility.

Additional Commissioner of Police from Kalyan division Dattatray Karale said, "All accused have been produced in the local court to seek remand. As per the statements given by police, the survivor is a student of Class 9. She was allegedly raped by her boyfriend, who is a minor. The boy then circulated a video of the alleged rape among his friends who then blackmailed the girl and sexually assaulted her over months, the police said.

The girl was allegedly assaulted in different locations on Thane district such as Badlapur, Mubad, Rabale and Dombivli. The survivor has reportedly named 33 people in the FIR and the police looking for the rest of the accused persons. The police have said that all the named accused persons are between the age group of 16 and 23.

The survivor belong to a family of labourers who work in Dombivli. All the accused persons are charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. The charges are gangrape, repeated rape, rape on a woman under sixteen years of age and the relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police officer said. A special investigation team has also been formed in the case which is headed by a woman officer.

The case caught attention of many as the Manpada police station saw crowd gathering in front of it. Opposition party members such as Chitra Wagh, Devendra Fadnavis and Vidya Chavan expressed their outrage over the incident. Chavan gathered with many others outside Manpada police station and demanded the accused persons be handed over to them so that they can teach them a lesson.
