The Cambridge Dictionary updated its definition of 'woman' and 'man' to include people who identify as a gender other than their biological sex.

The updated definition of 'woman' now reads "an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been seen to have a different sex at birth".

The dictionary also gave examples such as, "She was the first trans woman elected to a national office".

400 Protesters Jailed Over Iran Protests

On Tuesday, November 13, Iran's judiciary said that courts in Tehran sentences 400 people to jail for terms up to 10 years over their involvement in the nationwide protests.

The judiciary's Mizan Online website quoted judiciary chief Ali Alghasi-Mehr, "160 people were sentenced to between five and ten years prison, 80 people to two to five years and 160 people of up to two years".

Scarlett Johansson "Groomed" To Be "Bombshell-Type Of Actor"

Hollywood actor Scarlett Johansson opened up about being "groomed" to be a "bombshell-type of actor" during her early career.

Johansson appeared on the podcast Table for Two hosted by Bruce Bozzi and said, "I did Lost in Translation and Girl With the Pearl Earring and by that point, I was 18, 19, and I was coming into my own womanhood and learning my desirability and sexuality."

The actor added that playing the role of "the other woman and the object of desire" left her feeling "cornered".

All Delhi Sub-Registrars To Be Women Officers

Lt. Governor V. K. Saxena instructed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to appoint only women sub-registrars to deal with the general public in Delhi for all registrations, from property to marriage.

All 22 Sub-Registrars in the Revenue department of the Delhi government would be women officers for the first time as a result of the change.

The Lieutenant Governor's office stated in a public statement that it is anticipated that with female officers in charge, the “prevalent corruption, red tape, and harassment of people at such offices will be mitigated.”

Supreme Court's Justice Bela Trivedi Opts Out Of Bilkis Bano Case Hearing

Justice Bela Trivedi, a member of the Supreme Court bench who was scheduled to hear Bilkis Bano's appeal recused herself from the hearing.

The bench did not give a reason for Trivedi's withdrawal.

Bilkis Bano contested the Gujarat government's early release of the 11 convicts in two separate petitions and claimed the state broke the law by passing a mechanical order which disregarded the apex court's legal requirements.

Kerala Government Introduces Crying Rooms In Theatres

The Kairali theatre complex in Thiruvananthapuram, run by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation has set up a Crying Room for parents.

Parents can bring their children to the room and watch the movie from inside through a glass window if their child starts crying and disrupting the audience.
