Prof Devi Sridhar: In a post going viral on Twitter, a user pointed how Good Morning Britain removed the word 'Professor' from a woman professor's name and at the same presented names of male professors with the title. The user also claimed that the show featured four professors including three male professors who all had their titles featured on the television banner.

The woman professor in the picture was Prof. Devi Sridhar who is the chair of Global Public Health at the University of Edinburgh Medical School. She also retweeted the said post wrote, " Can women be professors in 2021? "

Many Twitter users commented on the post calling Good Morning Britain for undermining Sridhar. One user wrote, "How disrespectful to Professor Sridhar - are you doing this deliberately or is it just ignorance? No excuses this is clear misogyny."

Another user wrote, " The thing is when you see this, you can’t un-see it. It’s EVERYWHERE. The only female equally qualified human doesn’t get a title? Multiply this by the thousands of times this happens as kids grow up. It’s an unconscious bias. It can be changed with awareness & ownership"

This is not the first time that Good Morning Britain has come under fire for seemingly disrespecting women. The former presenter Pier Morgan courted controversy when he made derogatory remarks against Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. After the Oprah Winfrey interview with Prince Harry and Markle was aired Morgan said during the show that he did not believe a word that Markle said about her mental health.

Reportedly the broadcaster, ITV, received over 40, 000 complaints against Morgan and decided to investigate his comments. Piers Morgan then left the show amid outrage against him all over social media and otherwise.

An ITV spokesperson said: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."
