In a horrific incident, two men travelling by bike threw acid on a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Delhi's Dwarka district. The incident took place around 7:30 am on Wednesday, December 14. The acid attack resulted in injuries to both of the teenager's eyes.

The Delhi schoolgirl and her 13-year-old sister were walking by the roadside when two men on a bike slowed down and threw acid at the teenager's face.

According to the Delhi police, a phone call regarding the acid attack on the girl came around 9 am.

The incident was captured in CCTV footage and shows the two sisters walking by the roadside before the men throw acid at the elder girl.

The police said that the girl has identified two suspects. So far, the police have arrested three people in connection with the attack, they have been identified as Sachin Arora, Harshit, and Virender Singh.

Sachin and Harshit threw acid on the teenager and the accused had purchased the acid from an online retailer.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) wrote to the CEOs of two e-commerce platforms about acid being easily available even though it is illegal.

  • The young girl was taken to Safdarjung Hospital following the horrific acid attack. Her father spoke to the media and mentioned that the acid was thrown at the girl's face and resulted in injuries to her eyes.
