Acid attacks on women are the most heinous crime committed. It is not just a scar on the face, it is a scar for life. The acid cases are increasing, especially in the capital of India. Today, an acid attack case came to light, wherein two men on a bike threw acid at a 17-year-old girl in southwest Delhi's Dwarka area.

The entire episode was captured on a CCTV camera in the area. The footage shows the two girls walking by the roadside when men on a bike slow down and one of the riders throws a liquid substance at the girl. The girl touching her face, screams in horror, clearly in extreme pain. 

The incident took place around 7:30 am as per a report. According to Delhi Police, a phone call concerning the incident of an acid attack on a girl in the area of PS Mohan Garden came around 9 am.

Delhi Acid Attack Case, Girl Is Critical

The young girl has been hospitalised with grave injuries. The girl has been referred to Safdarjung hospital for treatment. Reportedly girl's father spoke to the media and pointed out that acid was splashed across her face, which also entered her eyes and now she is in critical condition. 

Further girl's father added, "My daughters, one aged 17 and the other 13, were out together this morning. Suddenly, two men on a bike threw acid at my elder daughter and drove away. They had covered their faces. Our younger daughter came running to the house and said that acid has been thrown at her sister."

Delhi police officers also reached the hospital. The police said that the girl has identified two suspects. So far, the police have arrested three people in connection with the attack, they have been identified as Sachin Arora, Harshit, and Virender Singh.

Sachin and Harshit threw acid on the teenager and the accused had purchased the acid from an online retailer.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) wrote to the CEOs of two e-commerce platforms about acid being easily available even though it is illegal.

Supreme Court banned over-the-counter acid sales in 2013. However, acid attacks in India still exist. Every year 250-300 acid attacks are reported in India. These figures are not exact as some cases go unreported.

SC made acid attacks a criminal offence and ruled that victims should receive free medical treatment and minimum compensation of Rs 3,00,000. But only compensation could not to a larger good. The attacks still prevail in society ruining the life of a woman for ever.
