During this exchange, Gehlot said, " You are a woman. Had you not been a woman I would have held you by the collar and then handed the memo to you."

The entire incident was caught on camera by a journalist, who then shared it on social media.

The altercation happened in the backdrop of a tractor rally in support of the farmers protesting around Delhi that was initiated by the Congress MLA. The rally was being held in Ratlam district's Sailana town near the border of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

A crowd led by Gehlot went to SDM's office to submit a memorandum. Thakur, however, took some time to step out of her office, thus the agitated Congress leader publicly threatened the officer.

Male Congress leaders from the state of MP have been in news for the past few days for all the wrong reasons. On January 14, former minister and Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma had made headlines when he questioned," When girls can reproduce at 15 years, why raise their marriageable age from 18 to 21 years?"

Former PWD minister made this statement questioning MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's claim that women’s marriageable age should be increased from 18 to 21. Chouhan also said that the state will implement a new system wherein women moving out of their house for work will register themselves at their local police stations, following which they will be tracked for safety. Read more about it here.
