Christine Angela Dacera's Death Case: Three Suspects Freed Amid Cries For Justice

Dacera’s mother Sharon has appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte, saying her daughter had been “treated like a pig” in the “barbaric” crime. The family is also preparing for a second autopsy after claiming that the first one was incomplete.

The Makati city prosecutor office has ordered the release of three men who were suspected to be connected with  Christine Angela Dacera's death case and the alleged gangrape. The 23-year-old flight attendant was found unconscious in the bathtub of a posh hotel. She had checked in with her friends to celebrate New Year's Eve. The case has been referred back to the police for further investigation.

On Wednesday, Benedicto Malcontento, Prosecutor General mentioned in his statement "After a thorough evaluation of the facts and evidence presented during inquest proceedings, the Office of the City Prosecutor, Makati City resolved to refer the case for further investigation and to release the arrested persons from detention."

“At this point, the pieces of evidence so far submitted are insufficient to establish that she was sexually assaulted or raped. And if sexual assault/rape was committed, who is/are the person/s responsible?” Prosecutor General added

In a previous report, Colonel Harold Depositar told that the deadly aneurysm may have been caused by very strenuous activity and a high level of alcohol toxicity. “For sure, there was force inflicted on her body because we found contusions in her leg and knees, and there’s an abrasion in her thigh,” he said. He further added that semen had been found “in multiple places in the hotel rooms.”

Reportedly, The Makati police chief said that the accused present in the hotel claim to be a member of the  LGBTQIA+ community.

Christine Angelica Dacera was a 23-year-old flight attendant working with Philippine Airlines (PAL) who checked in a four-star hotel, City Garden to celebrate the New Year’s Eve with her friends. One of her colleagues identified as Rommel Galida has informed that he found Dacera asleep in the bathtub of the hotel room when he woke up around 10 am.  He further said that he wrapped Dacera in a blanket and went to sleep again but found her unconscious and turning blue a few hours later when he woke up again. Soon after, she was rushed to the hospital but doctors declared she was brought dead. Read about it more here.
